Brian Champion speaks on privacy and data security issues at Maine State Bar Association meeting

On June 26, 2014, Attorney Brian L. Champion was a featured speaker at the Maine State Bar Association Summer Meeting held at the Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine.  Mr. Champion’s presentation – Privacy and Data Security – addressed the current state of privacy and data security issues facing companies and employers and underscored the serious organizational, financial and legal consequences resulting from a data or privacy security breach.  In addition to federal laws relating to information privacy, Mr. Champion noted that there are 46 state laws addressing data security issues and that it is critically important for businesses and employers to understand the laws and regulations that are applicable to their particular situation.

Brian L. Champion is a partner at Libby O’Brien Kingsley & Champion, LLC, with offices in Kennebunk, Maine; Portsmouth, NH; and Burlington, Mass.  He has practiced as a civil litigator, business and employment attorney for more than 25 years.  Mr. Champion assists companies in making administrative, technical and physical assessments and reviews regarding privacy and data security issues.  .
