16th annual Mary’s Walk raises nearly $300,000 for cancer research in Maine

Libby O’Brien Kingsley & Champion is pleased to have been a major sponsor of the 16th annual Mary’s Walk and Kerrymen Pub 5K Road Race held in Saco, Maine on Sunday, March 16, 2014.  Mary’s Walk began in 1999 as a unique way to recognize and remember Mary Kerry Libby, a much-loved mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend who lost her courageous battle with Burkitt’s Lymphoma on March 7, 1997 at the age of 44.  Mary is the late wife of Libby O’Brien Kingsley & Champion partner Gene Libby.  This year the event raised nearly $300,000 for cancer research and patient support in Maine.

The first Mary’s Walk was held on the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day in March 1999.  What started as a stroll through town with a few hundred people has evolved into a major community effort that has attracted over 50,000 participants and raised well over $2 million for the Maine Cancer Foundation in its 16-year span.

The firm wishes to thank and congratulate all of the organizers, sponsors, donors, volunteers and participants who helped to make this year’s Mary’s Walk a tremendous success!
